Restoration of Regional History through Ceramic Archaeology, Folklore Archaeology, Contemporary Archaeology, Experimental Archaeology, and Archaeology
Examination of changes in an "object" from the primitive age to the modern age and its social involvement, and exploration of the history through the archaeological method. Restoration of the region's own history from objects. Examination using the folklore archaeological method of modern and contemporary Kyoto ceramic ware, while also focusing on mainly primitive-age sueki unglazed ceramic ware and tile production. Exploration of research approaches for archaeology as historical studies, utilizing various methods of folklore surveys and experimental archology. This exploration also leads to the conduct of study in areas, such as the battle site archaeology and the contemporary archaeology
Additionally, folklore archaeological surveys of traditional arts of Kyoto are conducted as part of the extensive research. Conduct of folk cultural surveys of Kyoto ceramics, Japanese-style mirrors and karakami paper, the collection of patterns for Yuzen silk dyeing and Nishijin silk weaving to conduct relative studies on tools, people and products, while also focusing on objects.
