Research summary
Chemical biology studies of bioactive natural products aiming for the development of novel drug leads Bioactive natural products have been shown to be a rich and promising source of drug candidates. Especially, marine natural products have attracted much attention because of their unique chemical structure and remarkable bioactivity. However, much more works such as sufficient supply, structural refinement, and target ID are needed to validate their usefulness. Under the background shown above, we are conducting the synthetic studies of natural products aiming for the development of promising drug leads mainly focusing on the following research project: 1) Synthetic studies of marine natural products for sustainable supply 2) Design and synthesis of novel drug leads inspired by the natural products 3) Chemical biology studies for target ID
